Volunteer with Envirolution

Bring your time. Share your ideas. Help make something happen together.

We’re a volunteer-led environmental co-operative in Manchester, bringing people together through events, education and creative climate action. Help rebuild that work through games, workshops, organising or the practical things behind the scenes.

Ways to get involved

Different skills.
A shared purpose.

You might enjoy meeting people, making things, testing an idea or keeping a plan on track. Tell us what you’re interested in and the time you can realistically offer.

These are ways people can contribute to Envirolution’s work, not a list of confirmed vacancies. The team can talk through what is needed now and what might fit your interests and availability.

Festivals & event support

Help with event planning, stewarding, logistics, activities, setup and pack-down. Practical support helps turn a plan into a space where people can gather.

Explore festival participation

Workshops & climate games

Play-test the games, review educational content or help with workshop activities. Clear instructions and feedback on mobile play can make a useful contribution.

Community & organising

Help coordinate volunteers, plan community activities and connect with people around local climate action. Bring ideas for getting people involved, not just getting the word out.

Creative work & communications

Contribute writing, design, social media or event decor. Envirolution’s public stories include volunteers shaping both the festival spaces and the way people hear about them.

Digital support

Help with website content, game feedback and volunteer portal testing. Tell us what you enjoy working on and discuss a useful task with the team.

Admin & fundraising support

Help with administration, research, grant research and event coordination. Work behind the scenes matters just as much as what happens in front of a crowd.

Why volunteer?

It’s the people who make it.

In our volunteer stories, people describe much more than a finished event: friendships, creative freedom, new confidence and a sense of what a community can do together.

Find a community
Paul, Dawn, Matt and Dan describe friendships and connections that stayed with them beyond the festival.
Try something and grow
Their accounts include experience in event planning, public speaking, communications, creativity and volunteer organising.
Put environmental ideas into action
Since 2010, volunteers have helped make space for festivals, workshops, assemblies and grassroots climate conversations.

These are past experiences, not a promise of a particular role, training programme or outcome.

“I got to fully dive into projects with lots of autonomy that were not only fun and rewarding but also an outlet for my creativity.”

How to get started

A conversation, not a leap into the unknown.

Start with an enquiry. You do not need a portal account to tell us you’re interested, and sending a message does not commit you to a role.

  1. Find your starting point

Think about the activities you enjoy, a skill you would like to share or something you want to explore.

  2. Register your interest

Use the contact form with “Volunteering” selected. Tell us your interests and availability in your message.

  3. Talk through what fits

Ask the team to confirm current needs, practical arrangements and the support available before agreeing a first task.

  4. Agree the next step

Confirm how you’ll get involved. If portal access is useful, ask about it separately; account requests need approval.

Current opportunities & expressions of interest

What can I help with now?

There are no confirmed dated volunteer roles listed on this public page. You can register your interest while Envirolution rebuilds volunteer capacity.

Games testing is described as ongoing on the Events page; festival plans and a volunteer rebuild session do not yet have confirmed dates. Contact the team about availability rather than treating these as booked shifts.

Ongoing interest · education & games

Play, test & share feedback

Try the climate games on a phone, tablet or other screen. Notice where instructions are unclear, a control is difficult to use or something does not work as expected, then tell the team.

The games have different access needs, explained on the Games hub. No workshop date or facilitated testing session is confirmed here.

Planning stage · dates to be confirmed

Help rebuild events & the festival

Share an interest in planning, activities, decor, logistics, accessibility, setup or pack-down. The public plans are about rebuilding Manchester’s free community festival, not recruiting for a confirmed event-day shift.

Digital, communications & admin

Offer help with writing, web content, social media, research or administration. Discuss whether a remote or local task is available and what it would involve; no fixed commitment is advertised here.

Curiosity is a starting point

You don’t have to know every answer.

Our work makes room for questions, creative ideas and learning from one another. You can start by telling us what interests you, rather than presenting yourself as a climate expert.

Different contributions need different arrangements. Ask what a task involves, how much time it needs and what support or access arrangements are possible before you decide.

Start with a small experiment.

Play a game about forests, energy or recycling. What made sense? What would you change? Sharing that experience is one way into a conversation about environmental education.

Co-operative participation

Bring your voice, as well as your time.

Envirolution identifies itself as a registered Community Benefit Society and environmental co-operative. Participation is about sharing ideas and helping shape the work, not simply completing tasks.

Volunteering, membership and an online account are different ways of taking part. One does not automatically give you the others.

Understand our co-operative approach
Volunteering
Offer time, skills and ideas through a conversation with the team. A volunteer enquiry is not a membership application.
£1 co-operative membership
The membership page offers a one-off £1 share and sets out plans for member decisions and voting. Ask the team about current arrangements and formal membership rights when joining. Explore £1 membership.
Portal participation
Approved accounts can access discussion and proposal tools. An online vote or volunteer account should not be taken as proof of legal membership or a particular constitutional right.
A separate route for existing participants

Already volunteering?

The Volunteer Portal is the online space for approved volunteers, members and organisers.

New to Envirolution? Start with a volunteering enquiry. You do not need to sort out a login before making contact.

Stay connected through the portal

  • Read volunteer and member updates when published.
  • Join discussion topics and sign up for open opportunities.
  • Read proposals and use the voting tools; check with the team which decisions and participation arrangements apply to you.

Account requests are reviewed before access is approved. Content management, approvals and moderation are administrator tools, not permissions every volunteer receives.

Ready to get involved?

The next chapter needs people, too.

From the festivals at Platt Fields Park to community assemblies and environmental games, Envirolution’s story has been shaped by people sharing what they can.

Tell us what you’re drawn to and the time you can offer. Let’s start with a conversation about what comes next.

Registering interest opens the contact form, not an account or payment request. Read our privacy policy. Already involved? Open Volunteer Portal.
